Cerebrospinal fluid and serum

300 g of cerebrospinal fluid from onset and possible recurrence should be centrifuged for 10 minutes. Aliquot the supernatant (superphase) into one or more 1 ml cryotubes. Do not remove all the way to the bottom as you want cell-free supernatant. Freeze the tubes immediately at -80°C. Frozen tubes are sent in batches, for example every six months, packed on ice in e.g. a Styrofoam box.

If centrifugation is not possible, the cerebrospinal fluid sample is sent untreated together with bone marrow and blood samples.

Serum is sent at onset and on recurrence. The serum tube should be centrifuged at 2,000g for 10 minutes and drained into a new suitable tube.

If centrifugation is not possible, the serum tube is sent untreated together with bone marrow and blood samples.
