MTA

A Material Transfer Agreement (MTA) must be signed between parties when human samples will be sent for analysis within Sweden or abroad.

These agreements govern how the recipient can handle samples and how samples should be handled when they are no longer needed.

Biobank Sweden has developed new templates for Material Transfer Agreements (MTAs) when human samples will be sent for analysis within Sweden or abroad.

These agreements govern how the recipient can handle samples and how samples should be handled when they are no longer needed for the purpose for which they were sent.

Three new standard agreements (to be attached to biobank application L1) have been produced:

L2a1Agreement on the transfer of human biological material to a responsible research organisation (version 5.4). This template should be used when a region is the organisation responsible for the biobank and a Swedish university or another region (other than the organisation responsible for the biobank) is the responsible research organisation.

L2a2Agreement on the transfer of human biological material for commissioned research (version 5.4). This template should be used when a region is the organisation responsible for the biobank and there is a sponsor with overall responsibility for carrying out the study (commissioned research).

L2a3Agreement on the transfer of human biological material when the responsible research organisation is also responsible for the biobank (version 5.4).

All templates are available at https://biobanksverige.se/alladokument/

English translations of the templates are now available here.
